Most owners should keep their spa full and running all winter. Draining it yourself can leave water in pumps and plumbing where it can freeze and crack parts. If you need to shut down a spa or swim spa, call our service team to winterize it properly.
Keep the cover closed and strapped to hold in heat. Do not drain the spa. Once power returns, check that the breaker or GFCI has not tripped and that the jets and heater start. If power will be out for many hours in very cold temperatures, call our service team.
Warning signs include ice in the equipment area, no water flow, a pump that hums but doesn’t circulate, error codes, or water leaking near the cabinet once things thaw. Turn the spa off at the breaker and call service. Don’t try to force a frozen pump to run.
